It seems that each time I open a current magazine that offers information to lose weight, there it is, the world is finally finding out and acknowledging the value and importance of aerobic breathing for weight loss. Some call it a miracle, some call it magic. Me, I just smile. I have spent the past 30 plus years of my life studying the human body, and it is the most common sense thing I can think of, you need oxygen to burn fat!

Finding all the pieces of this puzzle can help you not only lose pounds and inches, it can help you feel stronger, healthier and happier on a daily basis. You can see the benefits in the mirror, not only on your body, but also on your face. Oh yes, you read it right. The fountain of youth is right inside you. Just breathe right! I just celebrated my birthday and I must say, it feels good that in spite of all the stress that comes with everyday living, I still have people telling me I look many years younger than they would expect for my chronological age. You can feel better, look better and be nicer to be around, if you will just do your LifeLift breathing each day, as you go through your day. Since doing the new workout videos I have received many messages from wonderful people with wonderful stories, telling me that they love the new workouts so much they are doing more than one workout a day. But you may be one of those who can't carve out the time to do the full 15 or 20 minute workout every day. Does this sound familiar? Ok, then do this. Take a moment and write down every time you can think of that you are doing some activity that you are not using your mouth. Ok, are you laughing at me? Well, I am serious. Unless you are brushing your teeth, or talking to someone, you can probably work in a LifeLift breath or two.

Here are some examples:

  • Sitting at the computer
  • Driving in your car
  • Taking a bath or shower
  • Washing dishes
  • Planting or weeding your garden
  • Mowing your lawn
  • Doing physical exercise, walking, bike riding, working out
  • Brushing your hair
  • Watching TV or a video

Ok, now I hope you get the picture. Don't feel that the only time to do your LifeLift breaths is when you are doing an actual workout in front of the video. Be creative. Use the moments you have in life to create a healthier, happier, stronger and more attractive YOU! You deserve nothing less. Be good to yourself, everything around you will seem so much better if you just allow yourself the gift of breathing better for YOUR LIFE.

Tone and Heal your body both inside and out!

Improving your health can be as simple as breathing and pressing points on your muscles. According to the principles of applied kinesiology there is a connection between your muscles and your internal organs. A weak muscle-gland/organ link can indicate a health problem. By stimulating certain points the muscle can be restored to health while at the same time healing your internal organs.

Right in the privacy of your own home you can give yourself a workout that will not only help you look good, but will also improve your internal health.

Here is the list of the muscle gland/organ/gland connection according to the principles of applied kinesiology:

What does this all mean? Simply put, if you want to strengthen your heart, strengthen your calves. If you want to strengthen your lungs, strengthen your shoulders. Here are some simple exercises that you can do along with your LifeLift breaths to target each area.

Calves-Heart: Stand on a step, or a large book with your heels hanging over the edge. Raise up on your toes, then lower yourself so your heels are below the level of the step or book. (Be sure you are holding on to something if you are using a book.) You can either do your LifeLift breaths ahead of time, or as you do them this way. While blowing out, lower your heels, as you sniff up, raise your heels, as you lower again do the pah and as you raise them, hold your breath and lift. 5 of these daily will be a great heart smart gift to yourself.

Shoulders-Lungs: Kneel on the floor, or press both hands against a wall, about shoulder length apart. If you are on the floor you will be in the position of a push up; however, you will bend your knees and raise your heels toward the ceiling. Be sure to keep your back straight. Holding in your abdominals, lower yourself to about 5 inches above the floor, keep your wrists in line with your shoulders. If you are standing push off from the wall and then press yourself in toward the wall, allowing your elbows to press out to your sides. Again you can do your LifeLift breaths before you begin, or you can do them this way. As you press down or against the wall, blow out, as you lift up, or back, sniff up, as you press down again, do the pah, and as you lift up, you will lift and tighten your abdomen in the lift position, holding your breath.

Abdomen-stomach/digestion: Doing each LifeLift breath will strengthen your abdomen muscles. If you want to increase your benefits from each breath you can combine simple crunches or leg raises, just be careful not to stress your back or neck.

Thigh Back-stimulate small intestines: Standing pelvic tilt, kneeling prayer, lunges, or simply standing on one leg and bending your knee to bring your foot up to your backside, while flexing, along with your LifeLift breaths will strengthen the back of your thigh and stimulate your small intestines.

The basic idea of kinesiology is similar to reflexology, but it works on muscles and glands. It is based on the theory that there is a link between muscles and glandular functions. By strengthening the muscles associated with each gland or organ you can improve the health and function of your internal organs.

If you think of each LifeLift breath along with each position as toning not only the muscles of your body to help you look better and feel stronger, but also as a way to dramatically improve the inner functions of your body, you will be more motivated to do your daily workouts.

Add to this the power of visualization. While doing your workout imagine in your mind that not only are you building strong shoulders, but see your lungs getting stronger. When working your calves see in your mind a picture of your heart pumping blood through your body. Focus each LifeLift breath and each position to the benefit of the related internal organ. You will feel your body becoming happier and healthier and you will feel all the associated benefits.

Foods to lower your blood cholesterol naturally

How wonderful that the foods that are good for us, taste so yummy and are beautiful to look at too! Here is a list of foods that are considered helpful in lowering your cholesterol.

  • apples
  • avocados
  • barley
  • beans
  • cantaloupe
Cartenoids, pretty colors, good taste and a bounty of benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease. These include red, yellow and orange vegetables, like pumpkins, sweet potatoes, watermelons, tomatoes, carrots and sweet red peppers. The same is true of dark, leafy green vegetables, like spinach and kale.

When you look at your plate next time think of it this way. The prettier the plate, the more attractive you are making your body. All of these wonderful, multicolored foods are adding a richness to your health and of course joy to your life. The healthier your body, the happier your life.

I am adding carrots, green beans and sweet potatoes to the pot. Amazing what a little sprig of rosemary can do to make your home smell like Heaven and your food taste wonderful!

Dear Rashelle: I am a 41 year old mother of 2 children, 4-1/2 and 2-1/2. After the birth of my second child, I have struggled to get back into shape. I had done months of aerobics along with countless "target" exercises on my own. Needless to say, after all those months of nearly killing myself, I saw absolutely no progress at all. I was ready to give in to the fact that this was the way my body was going to stay - forever.

I was up late a few nights and had seen both the BodyFlex and Oxycise infomercials on TV and was tempted to order one, but not until I was sure which was the better program.
